How Often Should You Visit the Gynecologist?
Most experts recommend visiting a gynecologist once a year, even if you haven’t had any sexual contact yet and don’t have any complaints.
A typical gynecological checkup includes recording your medical history and any symptoms. If you are sexually active or older than 21, your doctor will perform an internal pelvic exam. For women in their 20s, a breast examination and Pap smear are recommended every 3 years.
If you have any problems with contraception, irregular menstruation, unusual bleeding, breast pain, etc., make an appointment with your gynecologist, even if it’s not time for your regular checkup.
